| CONTACT and BIO A SHORT BIO I have been photographing landscapes of the American West for the last decade. My portfolio includes images from Arizona, California, Utah, Colorado, and the Pacific Northwest. I capture my images with both a 4x5 view camera and a Contax 645 with a Leaf Aptus 75S 33 megapixel digital back. I was born in Indiana and currently live in the desert Southwest. My mother was a landscape watercolor painter, though I don't make any conscious connection to that and my photography. I received a B.S. in mathematics with a physics minor from Indiana University. My vision for landscape photography is simple and straightforward: to express the light, grandeur, and emotion I felt while viewing the scene via a photograph. I take whatever liberties I feel are necessary in processing my files in the digital darkroom to achieve this aim. To quote Nevada Wier, “Film and cameras are visually impaired. They cannot begin to imitate the marvel that is the eye.” This is why images need to be creatively processed to bring out the best in them, still they will not look exactly how the eye sees.
